What is it like to live alone?

When I first moved to a new city for my job, I thought living alone meant freedom. No one to question my timing, no one to interrupt my silence, and everything on my own terms. It felt exciting… at first.

But slowly, that freedom turned into emptiness.

Cooking for one, eating alone, and then sitting in a quiet room with no one to talk to… it hits differently. Sometimes I’d open the fridge not because I was hungry, but just to find a distraction — something to break the silence.

Festivals hurt the most. When your colleagues rush home for celebrations and you're still at your desk finishing the last email, the only question echoing in your mind is — "Was this really worth it?"

Living alone does make you strong. You learn to rely on yourself, handle everything independently. But that strength often comes at the cost of loneliness.

I’m independent now. I’ve grown confident. But sometimes, I still crave that one familiar voice asking —"Did you eat?"

If you've ever smiled at the silence, only to feel its weight later… you know what I mean.

I hope you like it ☺️
