Hey guys! ✨
If you live in Perth, you already know the vibe. We have the most beautiful sunsets at Cottesloe, the best coffee in Freo, and honestly, the absolute best weather. But let’s be real for a second Perth is also known as the most isolated city in the world. Sometimes, expanding your social circle or finding that special someone here can feel a bit... stagnant. Everyone seems to know everyone since high school, right?
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how hard it is to meet new people organically without it feeling super awkward or forced. Whether you are looking for a casual chat, a fun flirt, or just a new beach buddy to grab a flat white with on a Sunday morning, putting yourself out there can be terrifying.
That is why I love the concept of digital spaces that keep it casual. You don’t always need a high-pressure dating app layout where everything feels like a job interview. Sometimes, you just want to share a cool photo of your afternoon (arvo) walk by the Swan River, spark a conversation based on a mutual vibe, and see where it goes.
If you are stuck in a Perth social bubble, here are my top 3 tips to break out:
• Say yes to solo dates: Go to that cute cafe in Subiaco alone. Post a story, tag the location, and look approachable.
• Use apps that focus on community: Look for platforms (like Tveni!) where you can blog, share snippets of your life, and chat with people nearby without the rigid "swipe right to marry me" pressure.
• Bond over hobbies: Whether it’s surfing at Scarborough or hitting up a weekend market, matching with people who share your vibe makes talking so much easier.
